Dr. Stephen Narh Wayoe

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Stephen, the founder of WEC, has held various important roles in the company since its establishment. He currently serves as the CEO, but his career began as a fabricator and welder. Over the last two decades, Dr. Stephen has gained vast expertise in the engineering and construction industries, making him a well-known figure in the field. He is also a skilled company development strategist who analyses client satisfaction and market dynamics to develop innovative solutions. Under his leadership, WEC has grown rapidly to become one of the leading players in Africa’s mining and oil and gas sectors

With offices registered in ten countries across the continent, WEC has safely delivered quality projects to multinationals, including Newmont Goldcorp, Goldfields Ghana, Perseus Mining, AngloGold Ashanti Ghana Limited, Tullow Ghana Limited, MODEC, Ghana National Gas, DRA Global Ghana Limited, Lycopodium Ghana Limited, Sierra Rutile Sierra Leone, Banro Corporation, and others, since its re-registration as a limited liability company in 2012.

Dr. Sarah Liki Wayoe

Executive Director – Finance & Administration

Dr. Sarah, the Executive Director of Finance and Administration, utilises her extensive financial leadership experience to make informed decisions and collaborate with strategic finance partners. Her expertise is integral to propelling WEC beyond customer expectations and toward becoming an industry innovator.

Dr. Sarah holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Finance and Investment and is also the founder of the Wayoe Workers’ Wives’ Association (WWWA), an organisation dedicated to empowering and educating the wives of WEC workers. Her contributions to the engineering sector were recognised when she was named the ‘Most Outstanding Female in Providing Engineering Solutions’ at The Business Executive’s Feminine Ghana Achievement Awards 2023.

Philip Vigors

Chief Operating Officer

Philip has over 22 years of experience in the mining sector, managing EPCM contracts on both green and brownfield projects, and over 8 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, managing both onshore and offshore projects. He worked his way up from starting his career as a project engineer to holding key management positions as project director and general manager for major companies in the mining and oil and gas sectors. He gained a lot of experience in countries such as Kazakhstan, South Africa, Botswana, the Middle East, Russia, Australia, Mexico, etc.

Phillip’s experience includes, but is not limited to, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and project execution of large-scale projects, with a wide range of experience in design management, establishing project control systems, risk management, maintenance and shut-down management, commercial management, marketing, business development, and general management of all supporting functions (finance, HR, IT, procurement, manufacturing, legal affairs, etc.).

Philip holds a BSc (Honors) in Mechanical Engineering obtained at the Polytechnic of Wales, an MSc in Project Management at Brunel University in London, an MBA at Henley Management College, an MSc in Property Development at Robert Gordon University Aberdeen, a PMP at the Project Management Institute, and is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer at the UK Institute of Mechanical Engineers.

Justice Obeng

Chief Financial Officer

With over 20 years of experience, Justice Obeng is an experienced CFO and highly regarded industry professional. He has a track record of holding top financial leadership positions and transforming businesses in a variety of markets. He has an MBA in Finance from Manchester Business School and is a Chartered Tax Accountant from the Institute of Certified Tax Accountants in the United Kingdom.

His accomplishments include designing a comprehensive financial reporting system to consolidate the operations of the parent company and its subsidiaries in Ghana, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Angola, Mozambique, Tanzania, and South Africa, which standardized the reporting format and assisted management in assessing the actual performance of each entity and facilitating regional level comparative analysis.

Dr. Stephen, a seasoned company development strategist, develops novel solutions by analyzing client satisfaction and market dynamics. WEC has grown rapidly under his leadership to become one of Africa’s dominant players in the mining and oil and gas sectors.

With her expertise, WEC can continue to exceed customer expectations and achieve the goal of converting the business into a facilitator of innovation. She has a Master of Science in Industrial Finance and Investment. 

She founded the Wayoe Workers’ Wives’ Association (WWWA), an organization dedicated to educating and empowering the workers’ in the engineering and construction industries.
